Eyelid surgery

The eyes are often the first place where age shows – in the form of heavy eyelids, loose skin, bags under the eyes, and a generally tired or heavy expression. Even if you feel fresh and awake, the eye area may signal something else.

With an upper and/or lower eyelid surgery, we can, with surgical precision, restore a clear, open, and more youthful look – without changing what makes you you.

At Sculpture by, eyelid surgery is performed exclusively by plastic surgeons with extensive experience with the delicate structures around the eyes and a special focus on creating natural and harmonious results.

“I felt safe throughout the entire process, and the result was both natural and beautiful. I could not be more satisfied – definitely a recommendation from me.”

Remove excess skin and fat

An eyelid surgery – also called blepharoplasty – is a surgical procedure that removes or repositions excess skin, fat, and muscle tissue around the eyes.

Upper eyelids that appear heavy and pull the eye area downward can be lifted to reopen the eye area. Here, excess skin and possibly heavy fat pads that weigh down the eyes and create a tired or inward-looking expression are removed.

Lower eyelids that appear wrinkled and/or puffy can be smoothed and rejuvenated. Here, protruding fat pads that create small or large bags under the eyes are removed or repositioned, while loose skin and, if necessary, muscle laxity are corrected.

Upper and lower eyelids can be treated either together or individually. Both procedures are carefully tailored with great aesthetic attention to your eye shape, facial expression, and skin quality. The goal is a fresh, open, and natural result.

Open and refreshed look

Eyelid surgery can stand alone or be part of a comprehensive rejuvenation strategy – for example, in combination with a Ponytail Lift, which addresses signs of ageing in the upper face. Combination options are assessed individually at a non-binding consultation.

Upper eyelid surgery is suitable for you if you:

  • Have heavy, tired upper eyelids

  • Have loose skin that hides the eye shape or reduces the field of vision

  • Want a more open and refreshed expression

  • Prefer a long-lasting solution over temporary treatments

Lower eyelid surgery is suitable for you if you:

  • Experience puffiness or bags under the eyes

  • Have loose, sagging, and wrinkled skin that dominates the eye area

  • Want a more open and refreshed expression

  • Prefer a long-lasting solution over temporary treatments

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to the most common questions about the treatment.

How is the surgery performed?

The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia combined with a relaxing tablet or mild sedation. For the upper eyelids, the incision is placed discreetly along the natural crease of the eyelid and closed with fine sutures. For the lower eyelids, a microscopically small incision is typically made just beneath the lash line or on the inside of the eyelid, leaving no visible scar.

The surgery takes approximately an hour, depending on the extent of the procedure, and in most cases, you can return home the same day.

You can expect some swelling and possibly bruising in the days following the procedure. Most people feel presentable again after 7–10 days. The sutures are usually removed after 5–7 days, and the final result can be assessed after 4–6 weeks, once the swelling has subsided.

The incisions are placed within the natural creases of the skin and typically heal very well. For the lower eyelids, techniques without visible external incisions are often used, depending on your individual anatomy.

The procedure itself is performed under local anaesthesia and is painless. Afterwards, most patients experience only mild discomfort, which can be managed with ordinary pain relief medication.

Yes – the result is long-lasting. Ageing will continue naturally, but the structural improvements achieved through the surgery remain for many years – often 10 years or more, depending on skin quality and lifestyle.

Yes – it is very common to combine eyelid surgery with, for example, a brow lift, Ponytail lift, fat injections or skin tightening to optimise the balance in the eye area and the upper third of the face.
