Deep plane facelift

The best and most advanced technique for facelift is the Deep Plane method. With these techniques, we can turn back time by decades and achieve a significantly rejuvenated appearance. The Deep Plane facelift differs markedly from simpler and more traditional facelifts. We treat the deeper tissues of the face and achieve significant and lasting lifts without the overly tight look that appears unnatural. The goal is a natural result that restores your younger self, and the treatment is offered exclusively by renowned plastic surgeon Louise Vennegaard Mielke.

“I felt safe throughout the entire process, and the result was both natural and beautiful. I could not be more satisfied – definitely a recommendation from me.”

More long-lasting results

Unlike a traditional facelift, where the skin is pulled tightly over the underlying structures of the face, a Deep Plane facelift also addresses the deeper tissues to achieve more long-lasting and natural-looking results. While traditional and SMAS (superficial musculoaponeurotic system) facelifts place increased tension on the skin and muscles, a Deep Plane facelift fully releases the tissues and passively repositions the underlying facial structures to restore their youthful placement without adding strain to the skin or muscles.

Scars are placed discreetly inside and behind the ear as well as along the hairline, and within a short time they become nearly invisible. In the hands of Louise Vennegaard Mielke, you achieve noticeable yet very natural results.

Based on your specific needs, the treatment can be combined with, for example, a neck lift, eyelid or lip lift, as well as wrinkle treatment with fat injections.

Effective lift with a natural expression

A Deep Plane facelift is far more effective than other techniques, which is why Louise has chosen to offer only this type to her patients. Instead of merely tightening the skin, we reposition tissue, muscles, and fat to achieve a more even, natural, and youthful result.

The surgery is performed under general anaesthesia and takes several hours. After the procedure, you will be admitted to our hospital for monitoring and rest, and you will usually be able to go home the following day.

At Sculpture by, the Deep Plane facelift is performed exclusively by Louise Vennegaard Mielke, who is among the few offering these procedures in Denmark. She is also one of the most skilled and specialised in facial surgery, including Deep Plane face and neck lifts.

At your consultation with Louise, we will review your wishes and expectations and guide you through the treatment plan that best matches your goals and possibilities.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to the most common questions about the treatment.

Will I still look like myself?

Yes, you will! Just younger and fresher. The goal is not to change who you are, but to turn back time and help you reconnect with yourself. A facelift should highlight your natural features and reflect the version of you that feels in harmony with how you feel inside.

The results after this type of facelift are so natural and refined that even your closest ones will find it hard to pinpoint exactly what has changed. They may simply think you’ve lost weight, changed your skincare, or updated your hairstyle. Most people who notice something will likely just think you look better and younger – and that is exactly what we aim to achieve!

The procedure itself is performed while you are in a deep sleep. When you wake up, you will already have been given pain relief, and during the first hours you are under observation to ensure that you experience no more than mild discomfort. The face will feel somewhat strange and a bit numb for several weeks, and you may experience mild headaches and a feeling of tightness around the incisions. From the very next day after surgery, any pain can usually be managed with ordinary over-the-counter medication.

Louise has refined the technique over many years and uses Preservation methods to maintain as much blood supply to the tissues as possible, optimizing the healing process while protecting blood vessels and nerves. Already the day after surgery, you will be up and able to carry out everyday activities. However, most people prefer not to be socially visible for the first 2–3 weeks, even though much can be hidden with sunglasses and loose hair. Some people swell more in the face than others and may bruise, especially if eyelid surgery is performed at the same time. If your job is not physically demanding, you can usually return to work after 1–2 weeks. Remember to give your body time and rest to heal, and trust the process.

In addition to providing natural facial rejuvenation, a Deep Plane facelift delivers long-lasting results that can help you look decades younger for the rest of your life. Depending on lifestyle and self-care, it may take 10 to 15 years before a surgical touch-up is needed.

A Deep Plane facelift can lift the cheeks, restore lost volume in the midface, smooth out nasolabial folds, and tighten the jawline.

It is often combined with a Deep Plane neck lift, which sculpts the deeper structures of the neck – fat deposits, sagging salivary glands, and muscles – and restores a clear angle between the neck and jaw.

The best candidates for a Deep Plane facelift are generally healthy, non-smokers who wish to soften signs of aging in the face and who have realistic expectations for their treatment. Your overall health and lifestyle play a significant role in what can be achieved and in the longevity of your results, and during an initial consultation, your treatment options will be reviewed in detail.

In general, the 40s and 50s are the optimal time for a highly successful facelift, but Louise also frequently operates on patients up to their late 70s with excellent results.
